National Register of Historic Places for Boise, Idaho

 

Boise, Idaho was inhabited by the Great Basin Shoshone and Bannaock Indians. 1592 marked the era of the Spanish exploration of the Boise region.  Lewis and Clark made their expedition through the area as well.

 

Between 1834 and 1844 the Hawaiians manned Fort Boise. During the 1860s, Mexican cowboys lived off the land, specifically near Rocky Bar. Jesus Urquirdes was one of them.

 

Among Boise’s famous people are Moses Alexander and Larry Echohawk. In 1932, Boise State University was constructed near Boise River.

 

The area companies include Sim Corporation, Boise Cascade, Micron Technology and Hewlett-Packard. Boise, Idaho celebrates Hot Salsa Dancing, Bogus Basin, Christmas Show, Key to the Koop and Idaho Triennial.
